Small World

It is indeed a small world.  And getting smaller.  Sometimes our "connectedness" can be overwhelming.  Fires raging in California are displayed in our newspapers (real paper, remember), tablets, and smartphones. The fear and pain of displaced immigrants.  The hunger of wartime babies.  Empathy can seem like a curse rather than a gift.
Our technology has put the entire world in our view.  Unless we escape into the confines of a cave or some luxurious shelter, we cannot help but witness the unhappiness, pain, and cruelty, and yes the love and compassion and pleasure, all around us.  We are all connected.  And our highest connection, I believe, is with Source (God, Infinite Intelligence, whatever name you choose).
During this Season of Light, may we all remember that without community, without connection, we are but single boats drifting on a sea of consciousness.   We only become our true selves, our complete selves, when we realize our connections to each and every human (yes, even those we disagree with) and creatures on this Earth.
One lesson that I have learned on my spiritual and mediumistic path is that we are also connected to our loved-ones who have crossed over into Spirit (Divine Light).  My Uncle Joe, who passed into Spirit many years ago, "is still with us here."  Not "was with us."  The barriers between the physical realm and the Spirit realm are generally self-created. "There is no death, there are no dead."
May you truly remember and honor your connections.
